Welcome to Haunted Charleston, SC

Known as the Holy City, Charleston offers a perfect mixture of places for praise and buildings of debauchery. Charleston Terrors Boos and Booze Haunted Pub Crawl takes you on a 21-and-up tour of the darkest watering holes that harbor spirits of both the terrifying kind and the boozy kind.

Sip on Charleston Fizz while hearing about the city’s deadly presence during the Civil and Revolutionary Wars and the tragedies that produced a reputation for hauntings and the need for a good drink. Join us for an adults-only boozy walk of Downtown Charleston and visit landmark sites with a serving of local spirits and Spirits.

Visit Charleston’s Most Haunted Bars and Locations

Charleston may be a city of pleasantries and appeal, but its past is one that is so horrific the reenactments of the city’s most gruesome scenes have been known to feature the original victims. Of course, it also features some of the best acts of defiance, giving the locals their desired and beloved liquor and beer.

Charleston Terrors celebrates these defiances, introducing you to the cocktails and spirits they passed down and the spirits that were left behind. You’re about to take in a devious side of the city that only comes alive at night. Top it off with Charleston’s signature drink, a Planter’s Punch, and you’re in for a night you won’t forget (maybe).

Discover Charleston’s Most Haunted Bars and Locations, including:

The Blind Tiger Pub

If there’s one thing people won’t stand for, it’s the taking of their beloved alcohol. When liquor sales were controlled by the state and bars were prohibited from operating, there was only one thing they could do: sell anyway. A dig at the powers at be, The Blind Tiger Pub operated as a speakeasy during prohibition, but it’s the “black cat” that dwells within that the bar has become known for. Grab a drink, gather ‘round, and discover the ghosts of the infamously haunted Blind Tiger.

The Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon

Once you’ve conquered some fear with the help of some of Charleston’s best spirits, venture with Charleston Terrors to The Old Exchange, where you’ll be thankful for the bar stop. The building has served multiple purposes, first as the Charleston military headquarters and, eventually, as a dungeon for prisoners of the Revolutionary War, the enslaved, and pirates. Today, it’s a holding cell for the spirits of the tormented, the sounds of a dark and demented past reverberating throughout. Fortunately, we take you to another bar right after this.

The Griffon

It’s time to play a drinking game, and after you hear the horror that occurred more than a century ago, you’ll be looking forward to it. Here, you’ll discover the tragedy that consumed the orphanage that once stood where Berry Hall stands today. The string of misfortune began with the Spanish Influenza pandemic and ended with a fire that claimed the lives of four children. The dorm is rife with unexplained activity, including malfunctioning fire alarms and the sounds of children laughing late at night. Hence the need for The Griffon Haunted Pub Crawl Drinking Game.

St. Philip’s Graveyard

Nice and liquored up? Perfect! You’re ready to make your way to one of the spookier and classic locations of our Charleston haunted pub crawl. Visit the St. Philip’s Protestant Episcopal Church Graveyard, where you’ll learn about the various public figures buried here, including Secretary of War and Vice President of The United States, John Calhoun. You’ll also hear about the ghost of Sue Howard Hardy, a woman who passed shortly after giving birth and whose presence has been known to curse those who encounter her.

There’s a reason this tour is strictly for the adults. For all of Charleston’s charm, it harbors an equal amount of sadness and despair that’s consumed these locations and has made them some of the most haunted in the city. Some you have to see to believe, and the stories are easier to digest with a cocktail. The Powder Magazine is one such place, formerly housing weapons of destruction and now housing the souls that were born from the perils of war. Trust us, you’ll want some drinks on this tour.
